Take the guesswork out of pregnancy

Bloomlife

What’s Bloomlife ?

Every year, around 15 million babies are born preterm.
That's huge, high risk and it's still unclear how we can influence this statistic.
Thankfully, Bloomlife, a Belgian-American startup is ready to change things.

The Project

Bloomlife has developed an outstanding compact device that counts the contractions of a pregnant woman, tracks them and displays them on your mobile phone.
Like every innovation, many questions arose: Is it safe? Can it be trusted? How does it work? Do people really need it?
EPIC was hired to help find the best way of explaining what Bloomlife is and to visually answer all of these questions.

Teamwork

in San Francisco

To deliver a great project we believe it's essential we work closely with the client, so we flew to San Francisco for the project kick-off and initial phase.
In less than one week we had a working prototype of the main part of the website, a clear vision of the next steps and a much greater knowledge about pregnancy!

“Let’s call it a companion…”

By working on a daily basis with our client we started using their words and sharing their same challenges. We quickly understood that Bloomlife wasn't just a cute device that magically predicts the delivery date. It was about providing peace of mind, sharing experiences and igniting a prenatal health revolution.

It became clear that the website needed to be shaped around the fundamental mission rather than just presenting a device.

This is not a toy

It’s serious tech

The technology behind Bloomlife is backed by science. It's safe, reliable and accurate. All of these points are incredibly important for future mothers and needed to be effectively communicated.
To address this challenge we chose a clear and simple illustration style and created a few animations to support and simplify Bloomlife's scientific claims.

Clarifying the pricing model

Why should someone buy a device that is only used for a couple of weeks?

Bloomlife is particularly useful during the final weeks of pregnancy and includes very complex technology.
To be financially affordable the device is only available through a flexible rental model.
And to explain this pricing model we designed a specific page funnel, giving extra attention to the order form to remove any user doubts about the final price.

Storyboarding for photography

We had to balance the scientific aspects with the emotional ones. We are talking here about the well-being of future moms and their babies. Bloomlife wanted to give them extra support during this very unique life moment.
So we suggested a photography direction based on a bright and peaceful environment, portraying a family living real situations. The pictures were shot according to the needs of the website and the story we were telling.

What’s in the box

Reassuring the customer was the main focus of discussion with the client. After visually addressing the safety, accuracy and pricing model singularities, Bloomlife wanted to be clear on precisely what the customer would receive.
So we storyboarded, directed and animated an effective simulation of the box and its content.

Are you ready for the next pregnancy revolution?

Bloomlife is a project we are really proud of. It combines exactly what EPIC is made for.
A strong and close relationship with the client, a focus for a very effective communication and the feeling of doing something meaningful.
